Meet Lucy Barnard

Lucy Barnard is an Australian adventurer, filmmaker, and field scientist currently undertaking one of the longest human-powered journeys ever attempted — walking the length of the Earth from the southern tip of Argentina to the northernmost town of Alaska. Covering more than 30,000 km across multiple continents, her expedition blends endurance, storytelling, and environmental research.
Lucy’s work has earned national recognition, including being named Adventurer of the Year by the Australian Geographic Society — Australia’s most prestigious honour in exploration and adventure. The award recognises individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to adventure, conservation, science, and storytelling, and as a merit-based honour recognising outstanding leadership and impact, the award is not necessarily presented every year, making it a particularly significant distinction.
Lucy is currently in the McBride area and you have the chance to meet and talk with her at this free event.
